TOW VEHICLE FOR THE WORLDS

One of the challenges in Europe is to find a car with a tow hitch. Rental companies offer only very expensive cars with a factory installed hitch, but they restrict entry in to the former East Block countries . After a long search and thanks to SOSA's pilot Jan Zachemski I was able to find a private company in Poland that will rent me Jeep Liberty with a tow hitch.
I plan to arrive in Krakow Poland on July 17th http://www.krakow.pl/en/
where I have to pick up Jeep and drive 300 km to Jelenia Gora.
Then I will pick up glider from storage at the local gliding club and continue 800 km to Szeged Hungary via Czech Republic

WestJet sponsors the Canadian Team

Thanks to John Mulder, WestJet has provided a round trip for two people to any WestJet destination as a fund-raiser for the team.  The vouchers have a maximum value of $4600 and can be used any time until Jun 2011.  No taxes - no surcharges - these vouchers include all costs.  Did you know that WestJet flies to Hawaii?

We plan to hold a draw for the vouchers during the 2010 Nationals in North Battleford.

John will be at the SAC AGM in Silverstar and the Alberta safety seminar where you can enter the draw and Dave, Jerzy and Willem will be at the Canadian Team Seminar in Ottawa where you may also enter in the draw.

Stay tuned for more details.

What's Happened so Far

I've been a little slow getting the blog started this year, but it is now finally up.

So far we have all found gliders for the contest.  I will be renting the same ASW-27 as I did for the last contest in Lusse, Jerzy will be borrowing an ASG-29 that is destined to a new owner in Canada after the contest and Willem has arranged an Antares from the Lange factory.

The preliminary entries to the contest organizers are now in and our three pilots are listed on the WGC 2010 website.  The deadline for the final entries and payment of the 650 Euro entry fee per pilot is 1 April, after that the entries become official.

We have a few Hungarian-Canadians who will be joining the Team in Hungary.  George Eckschmiedt from Vancouver will be with us for the entire contest and Steve and John Burany from SOSA will join us for the first week of the contest.  If you are going to be in the area next summer, please drop in!
