On Task

Dave and Jerzy, our 18m guys started at 13:34 and 13:39 respectively. They have been on task for about 70 minutes and are already north of the Murray River, approaching the first turn area.

Sergei and Luke, our 15m guys started 14:39 and 15:02.

We see competitors on task at over 9,000 ft - finally a day as one would expect in Australia. At a ground elevation of 500 - 600ft, the competitors will enjoy a deep working band today which will translate into high average speeds. Currently we see the fastest 18m guys averaging 140 kph. According to forecast, the 18m class should find some cu in the first and second turn areas, about 200 km north of Benalla.

The only Canadian pilot with a tracker is Dave Springford in 4D

After having braved a few hours of 40 degree heat and terrible dust on the grid during launch, the crews are comfortably holed up at "Canada Base", an air-conditioned house, monitoring the radio, tracking the field and looking at satellite photos.
